Have I lost the Blessings of God?”

I was in Spearfish SD over the weekend to visit my youngest son and we went to church at the Grace Fellowship church on Sunday. The Pastor’s sermon was on faith and the story of Moses being obedient to what God had commanded of him. The portion of his sermon that impacted me the most was: God had given Moses instructions on how to get water and Moses disobeyed Him and did it his way.

          Here are the verses:

Numbers 20: – 7 > 12. The Lord said to Moses, “Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.” So Moses took the staff from the Lord’s presence, just as he commanded him. He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, “Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?” Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.  But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.

Because Moses was not obedient to the specific instructions of God the Israelites lost their Blessing.

Then I started thinking about myself “Have I lost the Blessings of God?”…..   God still speaks directly to us today – not like he was speaking to Moses directly. I have heard his calling on my life in different ways, but I did have to get rid of allot of junk in my life to hear his voice (that is a different topic sometime in the future). What scares me the most is that if I am disobedient to the calling of Jesus – will that affect those around me? And will they lose the Blessing of God because of my Disobedience? WOW – something to really think about.
I have to tell you it has me really focused on what Jesus is telling me to specifically do and looking at what that means.   I believe that I have at times not been dis-obedient to what has been asked of me and I did lose the Blessing that could have been mine. I know that Moses is next to Jesus and I will be also – but this life will be allot better if I am obedient to HIS calling on me.

Have you lost your Blessings from God?

Are you being Obedient to what he is asking of you?

Have you caused those around you to lose their Blessings?
