Prince of Peace!!

Pastor Shaun has been teaching us these last few weeks about the names of Jesus from Isaiah 9:6 >
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called “Wonderful Counselor”, “Mighty God,  Everlasting Father”, “Prince of Peace”.
This last week it was on the “Prince of Peace” and when I look at the world today there is no greater need for Jesus.   He is the reason of the season and Peace is greatly needed in all areas of the world.   Part of pastor Shaun’s message was from Ephesians 2: 14>22 but I will let you look that up and read what is says. I have a study bible and the portion at the bottom is what I would like to share.
There are many barriers that can divide us from other Christians:

  • Age
  • Appearances
  • Intelligence
  • Political Persuasion
  • Economic Status
  • Race
  • Theological Perspective
  • How you dress
  • Music
  • Buildings
  • I added a couple and I bet you could to.

One of the best ways to stifle Christ’s love is to be friendly with only those people that we like. Fortunately, Christ has knocked down the barriers and has unified all believers into one family. His cross should be the focus of our unity. The Holy Spirit helps us look beyond the barriers to the unity we are called to enjoy.
It seems that the walls between Church denominations is experienced in a bigger way during the Christmas Season. This is the time of year when walls need to be broken and we need come together and share the Birthday of Jesus.   We need to encourage all people to seek out a church (any church – it does not have to be yours) and enjoy the service. I know that there are people who only go to church twice a year – but this is the greatest time to welcome them and show them the love of Jesus.

This year my wife thought it would be great to attend several services at different churches. We were looking at the Newspaper and we can attend at least 4 different ones with no problem… We believe in a Unified Church –

“The Church”.

A challenge for you – try it…. get out of your comfort zone and see what others are doing.

Take someone with you to at least one of the services.
